Mac Pro Longwear Foundation [Review]

The Most Long-Lasting Foundation Ever!
Finally, I have found you!

I present to you Mac Pro Longwear Foundation!
Mac Cosmetics website describes it as....
"A long-wear foundation that gives up to 15 hours of wear in any environmental condition. Lightweight and creamy, applies smoothly to provide sheer to medium coverage. Even in hot and humid conditions, controls oil to keep skin fresh, natural and flawless. Provides everyday SPF protection."
I absolutely love this foundation. It is my HG! I love the formula and the lasting power. It comes with a built in pump. The finish is a "natural" look which is really in between "matte" and "dewy" finish. As it is medium coverage, it evens out my skintone beautifully and I love that it's not sticky at all. I found Studio Sculpt foundation (cream) to be sticky if you didn't put a setting powder. A great thing about this foundation is that you don't even need setting-powder at all. Well...at least for me that is. How awesome is that? The finish of this foundation is just amazing!

My aunties even noticed my skin more and mentioned that I looked more "fresh" and I should always stick to this very foundation. They kept asking what brand and where they could get it. lol I also love that the formula is transfer resistant so you can easily hug your "significant other" without them getting annoyed at you. =P

I believe this is great for people with oily and combination skin. Although, people with dryskin can always sample this foundation first before purchasing. I find it very oil controlling and it doesn't make me look greasy unlike other foundations. Again, I only used it during the fall/winter season.

NW 35 & NC 42
The only negative aspect of this foundation line is that it did not match me correctly.
I love this foundation formula so much that I was willing to purchase two bottles of these just so that I can get a decent match and be satisfied.
So here is my shade matching dilemma.....
They did not have an NC 43 and NC 42 seemed too yellow and too light in certain areas of my face. The MUA suggested NW 35 to me initially but when I got home it seemed too dark for my entire face. I decided to also purchase NC 42 so I can neutralize it and mix these two shades to achieve a good colour  match. I simply pump NC 42 once and then add a small amount of  NW 35 and VOILA! Also, I did like to additionally apply NC 42 to the cheek (middle areas of my face) since they tend to be the lighter skin areas. Hmm....it sure can sound complicated with the shade mixing and matching! lol
The price can be an other factor.  It is about $35.50 Cdn. As you pump this foundation out, it can feel thick but you must work fast during the application as it can dry quickly...so blend away! I apply the foundation with a foundation brush and then use a stippling brush to buff it all out.
I still have yet to try this foundation out during the summer. It sure was great during the fall and winter season. I hope it continues to satisfy me throughout the spring and summer seasons.

This is my face after 10 hours of having this foundation on....(No Flash - Pictures taken a few months ago)
I reapplied my lippie here...I cannot exactly recall but I think it was Mac Soar Lipliner pencil all over. I think I had Mac Peaches Blush on as well.
Let's get down to the real deal now....
Pro:
-Excellent lasting power up to 15 hours
-Medium coverage while being lightweight
-Foundation bottle comes with a built in pump
-Oil Controlling
-Not sticky
-Transfer resistant
-Amazing flawless finish (in between matte/dewy)
-Photographs beautifully despite the Spf 10

Con:
-Foundation shades are not exactly the same when comparing it to the same numbers in the different foundation lines (ie some shades are more darker, more yellow, more pale)
-Not enough foundation shades, to make a better match.....so you may end up mixing the shades to get your exact match (can be pricey with the purchase of two bottles)
-Must blend fast during application as it can dry up quickly
-Hate how Mac is increasing their prices so significantly!

 Overall Rating: 4/5
I would've given this a perfect but the shade selection was a bummer.

Overall Thoughts: I love love love this foundation! It stays put while lasting so many hours. I did not mind buying two bottles of this foundation as it truly satisfied me. It was worth the purchase! This is much better than Studio Fix Fluid as I found that foundation to be too thick and cakey for my liking. This foundation finish makes you look radiant and beautiful while having the long lasting power make it even better. I will definitely purchase this again in the future. Although, I still want to try out other foundations like Giorgio Armani for sure.
Have you tried out Mac Pro Longwear foundation yet?
I suggest you go sample it today!

I tried the foundation in both NC42 and NC45 and both were either too dark and too light, I did end up mixing the samples and found my perfect match. But, like you said, this foundation is awesome! I totally agree! The only bummer, as you mentioned, is the colour range, which in truth is the only thing holding me back from getting it. But I guess I can sacrifice that for awesome staying/oil control/sheer awesomeness

I completely agree with you about the MAC price increase. I have decided not to buy any MAC foundation. I currently use Clinique Golden Beige (I'm MAC NC42), and I want to buy NARS Syracuse when my financial situation improves. :)

I love this foundation too but also have issues with colour match. My normal MAC match is NW25 but in this foundation NW25 is too dark. yet NW20 is too light. So I wore it late summer when I still had a bit of a tan.

I wanted to venture into foundations, and the MAC MA suggested this, she gave me two samples to test out, NC35 and NC40 (I believe those were the two shades). Seemed too orange for me, and NC35 seemed two light. I'm not sure, I have to try it again, and that is a HUGE bummer :(

But I have oily skin, and I don't retouch throughout the day at all, and this lasted all day! I was really surprised. I might have to try the mixing thing..

I have the same exact shades NW35 and NC42 and I also mix them together to get a correct match. This is definitely my HG foundation. I have even found that it will last more than 15 hours! It really is impressive, only sucky thing is the price increase and poor color selection. But for the way it works I would purchase 2 bottles, its that worth it!

yay for this foudie! I love it too! So clever of you to mix two colors. I'll probably have to do this in the summer months when I tan. You have a great glow to your skin...jealous!

It looks lovely on you! I purchased nc42 which looks a bit yellow so i just dab a bit of my mediym plus msf on top and it looks more balanced.

I liked the finish of the foundation but the colour match for NW45 skin and darker is HORRIBLE plus I hate that it was soooo easy for this foundation to look streaky. Not unless they reformulate this foundation where you dont have to slap it on so quickly and make more "real" colours I will gladly stick to SFF. At least with that I only need one pump of foundie to cover my entire face and the colour matches with no streaking issues. Just my 2 cents.

I swatched NW35 & NC42 on my face and both looked the same! I ended up buying NW35 but now I think I should have purchased NC42 as well. I used NW35 on my entire face I think it looks way too tan. I'm going to have to mix this as well. Love the finish on this though!

Please do a comparison review of MAC Prolongwear foundation against Mufe HD (153) and Nars Sheer Glow (barcelona/syracuse) and Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk. That would be very interesting.

Love this review, very thorough. I purchased Mac Pro Full Coverage only to find it doesn't wear very well. I wanted a long lasting foundation that photographs well, might have to give this a go :)
